Taxonomic notes on some Styrax (Styracaceae) species from Brazil

Questões taxonômicas relacionadas a três espécies de Styrax ser. Valvatae no Brasil são abordados. Styrax bahiensis, uma nova espécie do estado da Bahia, nordeste do Brasil, é descrita e ilustrada. É semelhante a S. pallidus em suas folhas de tamanho semelhante e em tecas de anteras que ultrapassam o conectivo, mas difere por lâminas de folhas coriáceas com uma margem de revolta, domácias de folhas de até 0,7 mm de comprimento e planas ou raramente levemente protuberantes, um amarelo ou cálice de tomentulose estrelado de laranja abaxialmente, e espalhando lóbulos de corola. A espécie é conhecida apenas pela coleção de tipos recolhida há mais de 50 anos. Styrax griseus é colocado em sinonímia sob S. kuhlmannii, uma espécie do Brasil central, e um lectótipo é fornecido para S. kuhlmannii. Uma descrição atualizada e estimativa da distribuição geográfica de S. pauciflorus são fornecidas, bem como um lectótipo e avaliação de conservação para esta espécie.
